A few years ago, as a teenager, I often thought that I wanted to help to make the world a better place. But when I started thinking of ways to do it I was overwhelmed, because there are so many possibilities. As a social anthropology student and a French girl living in Germany, I knew that I wanted to contribute to a better intercultural understanding. So I decided to join AIESEC, the biggest student organization developing leadership through intercultural exchange.
And now, I’m not that overwhelmed anymore when I think about how to make this world a better place. Through my experience as AIESEC member, I learn how to set concrete goals. I can break down these goals in concrete “everyday” tasks. And those tasks contribute to the greater goal of AIESEC as an organization that promotes peace and the fulfilment of humankind’s potential. We are not just a student organization. AIESEC is a platform where everyone has a lot of opportunities to try things out, fail, succeed and keep on learning. This way, AIESEC helped me to get to know myself better. I learnt a lot about my strengths and weaknesses and what I want to achieve in life. Moreover, I understand what is important to me and what I stand for as a person. So I learnt a lot how to connect my actions inside and outside of AIESEC with what I want to achieve in life.
Let’s make every single day purposeful by sending as many people abroad for a intercultural journey. This changes lives!
